Our teacher is Ms Charlene Mora, and our teacher-aide is Sherry Williams. We are a class of 23 students, Year 4 and 5.

Our main class aims are shown on our Treaty

We all have aims for the year. Students shared these with the class and BWeBman. Alakhai wants to respect others. Ryan wishes to improve his concentration. Rosa is concentrating on her respect for the environment. Carlo's aim is to win the cross-country. Yasmin is aiming to swim lengths of the pool. Alex is going to make new friends and Ella wants to run faster. Flora wants to do neater work. Rosanna is aiming to improve her swimming. Leland is sure he will keep his desk tidier. Jordan's goal is to be a good long-distance runner.

We've some really interesting activities planned for this year:. Crazy hair day has been and gone, the Christchurch coin trail, Jump Rope for heart, class trips, a shared lunch with Miss Schwab, the gala and a disco.

Our behaviour in class and around the school is very good, and relieving teachers like Mrs Bolton, always enjoy their days in here.

We'll all have a great year with Ms Mora. There's always such a lot of interesting things happening in here.

MATHS, BY FREEMAN, RYAN AND FEYA

We have maintenance 4 days a week.  We have 20 questions to answer.

Maths is really fun and the numbers never change their answers like,  they never go once 1+4=5,  but another time goes 1+4=18.  You can trust numbers.  On Fridays we get tested by someone from the classroom on basic facts that we get Mum or Dad to test us at home all week.

Maths is enjoyable because it sometimes involves pictures and you can have fun.

This is work from last year. Watch out for more of ours.

This slideshow, on Photopeach, is of some of our work. It was prepared by Otis and Cheyenne.

Early in spring we grew freesias in pots. Here is a slideshow with illustrations of some of these. We then wrote our poems or stories about them. The excellent photographs were taken by Mrs Bryant. Students did the typing and made the slideshow.

Freesia,
I planted a Freesia
Freesia
Bright, colour, smell,
I thought it came from Indonesia
Pure white and still
It grows up tall and strong,
It got fed, fed, fed
Looks pretty and smells good
Excited, proud and quite happy,
The next day it was dead, dead, dead
It makes me feel happy and cheerful

My Freesia

My freesia started as a very small bulb but about one week later it had a sprout. I had put it by the sun with its pot in an ice cream container with water for it to soak up. It was fun watching it grow. A couple more weeks on every body was so excited because the freesias started to put out buds. We all felt happy when the flowers came out a month later. We had been waiting patiently to see if the bulbs had done their job properly. My freesia is still growing at home. By James

Not Everything Grows and Flowers!

In term two we planted freesias.  After a few weeks they started to grow except a few. Mine was one of those few. Then after a few weeks mine sprouted a healthy green shoot.  You had to water them and put them in the sun. Once mine was 5cm tall most of the freesias were so tall that they needed a stake.  I kept watering mine and putting it in the sun. Then it was the last day of the term and my freesia still hadn't flowered so I took it home.  When I was tightening up the stake the stem broke and that was the end of my freesia.  But I have started a garden of my own and it's going well. By Jenna

MY AWESOME FREESIA STORY My freesia took about 3 weeks to grow the stem and my flower was special because it was the only yellow one in the class. It was awesome. My freesia needs a lot of water but not too much because it will die and my flower needs to have sun. I planted my flower in the garden and I'm going to grow more...From Karly

The Flower of a  Lifetime
My Fabulous Freesia
We grew a bulb in a pot.
I planted the bulb
Yellow, white, purple, pink are the colours of the freesia.
I'll give it some water.
My freesia was beautiful
It grows in a pot in the bright yellow sun which twinkles upon my plant.
Then it will grow some more and more.
Then it sadly died
My plant starts to get to work and in the night
It'll need some of that beautiful light.
By Campbell
my plant starts to grow, and there you have my freesia flower
So then it's so so bright with those colours and how tall the freesia is.
as beautiful as can be.

My Freesia's grown a bit more, now it's got a few more leaves

ook below for our Kowhaiwhai patterns. Otis supplied the following article.

Mrs Bryant and Mr Mike Howell organized this topic.(Mike is the past HOD art at Motueka High School). They based this work on the book, "The Arrivals" about newcomers to New Zealand, from Europe. These show in Māori geometric shapes, the journey from a sad to a happy place.

The patterns are repeated by folding and tracing over, so that they have reflective and rotational symmetry. The Koru represents unfurling, new life. for the families.
